Wix to Shopify Migration
Upgrade your Wix store to Shopify, end to end
Wix is a great place to start an online store. It's also a common place to outgrow. Once a Wix store hits meaningful sales volume, the platform's limits start showing up in real ways: checkout conversion lags, apps don't exist for the tools you need, SEO tooling feels dated, and scaling the catalog or international markets becomes harder than it should be.
Netalico handles the full Wix to Shopify migration for growing DTC brands: every URL redirected, all customer and order history ported, apps rebuilt as Shopify-native equivalents, and SEO preserved. Most Wix projects launch in 6 to 10 weeks on a clean Shopify store, with Shopify Plus available as an upgrade path when you're ready.

Testimonials
Seth Ross | Owner & Co-Founder, Lovey & Grink
Thanks to Netalico, our conversion rate increased significantly. When we started working with them, our conversion rate was around 1.75%, and we now have a 2.4% conversion rate, which is great. Moreover, Netalico did a really good job at implementing helpful features on our site. Among the most helpful improvements were a new recommendation engine, a wholesale ordering platform, and more compelling product description pages.

Their experience with migration is something not all agencies have. A lot of agencies can do all sorts of development work, but e-commerce has a lot of nuances that are important to understand. They are skilled in what they do and we have a great rapport with Mark.

Netalico Commerce has been doing maintenance and upgrades for our existing Magento website and customer portal to make our ordering process more efficient and solve its current issues. When they came in, we told them what our problems were and solved everything within a couple of months.

Migrating from Wix to Shopify brings up questions about data, SEO, redirects, cost, timeline, and which Shopify plan to choose. Here are the answers to the ones we hear most often. Still curious? Click the button for more, or book a free strategy call.
More FAQsHow long does a Wix to Shopify migration take?
Most Wix to Shopify migrations run 6 to 10 weeks from kickoff to launch. Simpler Wix stores (under 500 SKUs, standard theme port) can ship in 4 to 6 weeks. Stores with custom blog content, subscription products, or complex promotions run closer to 10 to 12 weeks.
How much does a Wix to Shopify migration cost?
Typical Wix to Shopify migration pricing ranges from $8,000 to $25,000 for most DTC brands. Simple catalog and theme moves land at the lower end. Custom design work, subscription billing, or heavy app customization push projects into the $20,000 to $35,000 range. Book a free strategy call for a scoped estimate.
Will I lose SEO when migrating from Wix to Shopify?
No, not if the migration is done properly. Wix URL structures are non-standard, which makes redirect planning more important than on most migrations. Every Wix URL gets a 301 redirect to its Shopify equivalent, metadata ports over completely, and rankings are monitored for 60 days post-launch. Most merchants hold or grow organic traffic within 30 to 45 days of the switch.
Do I need Shopify Plus or is standard Shopify enough?
For most Wix merchants, standard Shopify is the right starting point. Shopify's Basic, Shopify, and Advanced plans cover everything a growing DTC brand needs until annual revenue crosses roughly $1 million. Shopify Plus becomes relevant when B2B, multi-store, heavy checkout customization, or Launch Engineer support becomes a real requirement. Upgrading from standard Shopify to Plus later is straightforward and doesn't require another migration.
What data gets migrated from Wix to Shopify?
Products, variants, pricing, inventory, images, collections, customer accounts, order history, blog posts, and any existing URL redirects. Wix's limited data export makes this more hands-on than migrations from platforms with richer APIs, so we use a combination of CSV export, API pulls where available, and content extraction tooling to get everything across cleanly.
Can you rebuild my Wix apps on Shopify?
Yes. Most Wix apps have direct Shopify equivalents or close substitutes (Klaviyo for email, Yotpo for reviews, Recharge for subscriptions, Gorgias for helpdesk, LoyaltyLion for loyalty). Apps with Wix lock-in get rebuilt as custom Shopify features or replaced with Shopify-native alternatives during migration.
How do you handle 301 redirects from Wix URLs?
Wix URL structures don't map one-to-one to Shopify's, so every Wix URL requires an explicit 301 redirect to its Shopify equivalent. We export the full URL list from Wix, generate the redirect map during the build, upload it via Shopify's URL Redirects importer, and validate coverage before launch. Sitemap, robots.txt, and canonical tags are regenerated on launch day.
How soon can we start a Wix to Shopify migration?
Typically 1 to 3 weeks from signed SOW to kickoff. Smaller Wix projects can start within a week when timing is urgent (contract renewal, holiday prep, peak season deadline).
What happens after the Wix to Shopify migration launches?
We include a 2-week post-launch stabilization window in base scope for bug fixes, small tweaks, and performance monitoring. For ongoing support, Netalico offers retainers and hourly packages that keep the same team engaged on your store.
Can you migrate my Wix blog and content to Shopify?
Yes. Wix blog posts, images, categories, and tags migrate into Shopify's blog system cleanly. Blog URL structures get 301-redirected from Wix to Shopify paths. Static content pages (About, Contact, FAQ, policy pages) migrate into Shopify's Pages section with their URLs preserved where possible.

Wix vs Shopify: feature comparison at a glance
Most Wix merchants who outgrow the platform compare a move to Shopify on seven dimensions. The right destination depends on your size: standard Shopify (Basic, Shopify, or Advanced plans) is the right tier for stores under $1M annual GMV; Shopify Plus is the right tier above $1M when you need checkout customization, native B2B, or multi-store. Here is how Wix and the two Shopify tiers compare on each criterion:
Design flexibility
- Wix: Drag-and-drop editor with strong visual control but limited under-the-hood templating.
- Shopify (standard): Liquid templating with full theme code access; thousands of free and paid themes.
- Shopify Plus: Same as standard, with deeper customization through theme app extensions and metaobjects.
App and integration ecosystem
- Wix: Wix App Market, around 500 apps; many ecommerce-critical tools missing or weak.
- Shopify (standard): 10,000+ apps with native, first-class integrations for Klaviyo, Gorgias, Rebuy, Yotpo, ReCharge, ShipStation, and most growth tools.
- Shopify Plus: Same as standard.
SEO control
- Wix: Limited control over URL structure, robots.txt, schema markup, and canonical tags.
- Shopify (standard): Full control over URL handles, meta tags, schema, robots.txt, and 301 redirects through theme code.
- Shopify Plus: Same as standard, plus dedicated technical-SEO support during migration.
Checkout and conversion
- Wix: Standard hosted checkout, no Shop Pay, no one-click flows.
- Shopify (standard): Shop Pay (Shopify reports 5-10% higher conversion than guest checkout) plus native Apple Pay and Google Pay.
- Shopify Plus: Adds checkout extensions, scripts, custom logic, free-shipping thresholds, and gift-with-purchase rules.
Performance and scaling
- Wix: Sites slow at higher product counts and traffic spikes; limited CDN control.
- Shopify (standard): Globally distributed CDN; handles tens of thousands of products and traffic spikes without intervention.
- Shopify Plus: Same as standard, with higher API limits (up to 1,000 requests per minute via GraphQL) for ERP and OMS syncs.
Multi-currency and international
- Wix: Multi-currency support exists but is limited; market-specific pricing is awkward.
- Shopify (standard): Shopify Markets supports localized currencies, languages, and payment methods on a single store.
- Shopify Plus: Adds Markets Pro, B2B per-region catalogs, and multi-store for separate regional storefronts.
Pricing
- Wix: $17-$159 per month plus transaction fees on non-Wix payment processors.
- Shopify (standard): $39-$399 per month, no platform-side transaction fees beyond standard processing.
- Shopify Plus: Starts at $2,500 per month with transparent volume-based pricing above $800,000 monthly GMV.
In practice, most Wix merchants migrate to standard Shopify for the ecosystem depth, conversion-optimized checkout, and SEO control. Shopify Plus is the right destination when you have crossed $1M annual GMV or need B2B and multi-store features Wix never offered.
How to evaluate a Wix to Shopify migration partner
Wix to Shopify migrations are simpler than Magento or BigCommerce migrations because Wix locks most data behind its own export limits. The partner you choose still matters because SEO preservation, redirect mapping, and design fidelity in the new theme are where most Wix migrations succeed or fail.
- Wix-specific export experience. Wix exports are restrictive (no order export, limited product CSV). Your partner should have a documented playbook for getting product, customer, and content data out, including blog posts and media library assets.
- Redirect mapping methodology. Wix URL patterns differ structurally from Shopify. Ask how the partner builds the redirect map and how they handle Wix's `/post/` blog structure and product page URLs.
- Design fidelity in the new theme. Wix sites lean heavily on visual design. The partner should walk you through how they translate your Wix layout into a Shopify theme, where pixel-perfect parity is achievable, and where Shopify constraints will require small design changes.
- Post-launch retainer or support model. The first 90 days surface every edge case Shopify handles differently from Wix. Pick a partner who offers ongoing development and CRO support, not just project handoff.
- Time-to-launch on a working store. A Wix to Shopify migration on a clean catalog (under 500 SKUs, simple product types) typically launches in 6 to 10 weeks. Larger catalogs or heavy custom design run 10 to 16 weeks.
